Hi, my name is Jess and I’m a hermit. Ok, I’m not REALLY a hermit, but I hate going to the store. HATE IT. So now, thanks to the internet, I order nearly everything I can. If Whole Foods offered internet shopping and delivery like Safeway, I’d buy all my groceries online too! When I say “everything,” I mean it. I get everything from textbooks to hand soap, office supplies to accent furniture – and snacks too. You can even set up a ”subscription” to automatically receive an item at regular intervals at a discounted price!

How is it that I am able to order EVERYTHING online without paying an arm and a leg for shipping? Amazon Prime! If you’ve used Amazon.com, you’ve heard about Amazon Prime. They always offer free trials and beg you to upgrade, so it looks like something you probably don’t need. But if you’re like me, you do. You need it like you’ve never needed anything before!

For $79 a year (waaay cheaper than it costs to ship all my stuff, for sure) you get unlimited FREE 2-day shipping on nearly everything you could want, with no minimum purchase. Want some pencils for $2.50? Free shipping for you! If you want your order to arrive faster than 2-days, 1-day shipping is only $3.99 per item. Also, you can mail anything to anyone within the continental U.S. with free shipping too, (sorry, Alaska and Hawaii) so all of your gift shipping can be FREE! Though they can’t offer 2-day, FREE standard shipping is provided for APO/FPO addresses.

Recently, they’ve launched Amazon Instant Video, where you can rent and buy digital copies of movies and TV shows… but with your Prime membership, you can stream a bunch of them for FREE (this DOES work in Alaska and Hawaii)! My kids love watching Sesame Street and Super Why whenever they like. Amazon says, “Prime instant videos can be watched instantly on a Mac, PC and nearly 200 models of Internet-connected TVs, Blu-ray players and set-top-boxes that are compatible with Amazon Instant Video. All of the movies and TV shows are commercial-free and some are available in HD.”

Since Amazon offers a free trial, you really can’t go wrong with trying out this service. I can’t imagine what I’d do without it!

*I was in no way compensated for this article. In fact, I’ve probably paid Amazon thousands of dollars since I started using their site back in 2005*

I signed up for Amazon Prime trial with the intention to cancel it before I was charged. Well, I forgot. Since then I’ve made more and more purchases from Amazon to make sure that I recoup the cost, and I love it!

I too use Amazon Prime and I LOVE not having to weigh my frustration and lack of time to go to the store against the cost of shipping. It’s a no-brainer with Amazon prime. Plus, if you don’t use the live video streaming (we don’t have much time for TV in my house) you can get Amazon Prime for free through the Amazon Mom page or Amazon Student page. Win-win!!!
