DIY Halloween Jars

It’s hard to believe, but Halloween is creeping up. I have never been a fan, but my son is just starting to understand a little about it and he’s obsessed with pumpkins so I thought it would be a good year to get my feet wet with some easy Halloween D cor. Baby steps. Maybe next year I’ll tackle something a little more complicated, but for now I start with easy peasy.

All you need for this one is:

Some jars, vases or bottles (the possibilities are endless – dollar store anyone?)
Paint
Permanent marker
Roll of gauze (for the mummy)
2 bolts (for the Frankenstein)

Here’s how to do it:

Clean the jars and make sure they are dry.

Paint. I did 2 orange for pumpkins, 2 white for a ghost and a mummy and 1 green for Frankenstein.

It took me quite a few coats to get the jars covered. I used acrylic paint.

A friend told me after the fact that there is a primer called Bulls Eye 123 by Zinsser that works great on glass before you paint it.

Use the permanent marker to draw and color the faces. Get creative!!!

Spray with a clear top coat.

Wrap the mummy in the gauze and hot glue the bolts to Frankenstein.

It’s as easy as that! I used some of those felt pads on the bottom so they didn’t mark up my mantle. My very first Halloween craft….

t o o t-t o o t!! (that’s the sound of me tooting my own horn)

Wow those are super, great job :) so what’s next? I’ve always been so jealous of you Anericans, you get way more holidays and celebrations days to have reasons to craft than us British, it’s not fair! Looking forward to more of your posts/blogs, keep up the fab work xx
