Pigs in a Puff Pastry & other fun ideas

This recipe is very quick, easy and my four year old loves to help! The ingredients in this recipe go a long way. The basic description is little smoked sausages wrapped in puff pastry. You end up with extra puff pastry that can be decorated with chocolate chips. It’s fun and easy.

For these recipes below, you will need the following things:

1. 1 box of Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry Sheets (in the frozen dessert section)
2. A small pack of little smokies, mini sausages.
3. Chocolate Chips

Let me give you a few tips, followed by photos:

Set the puff pastry sheets out to thaw if they are frozen. Usually 30 minutes out on the counter will be fine.

Cut sheets into small strips, as seen below.

Take your uncooked sausages and wrap each one up in a strip.

Roll them up (my daughter liked this part!) “and mark them with a B for Baby and me!”

Place them on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes at 375f (depending on your oven, just watch them every few minutes to make sure they aren’t burning).

With the leftover strips (we had some, because I also cooked some plain smokies without their blankets) you can make little chocolate pastries. My daughter loved decorating the strips with little chocolate & peanut butter chips. You can either roll them up with the chips inside or fold them in half. Bake them as you would the little smokies.

I had enough rolled smokies to freeze and cook later! Enjoy.

I love puff pastry. You can do just about anything with it!

In the past I’ve used the Pillsbury Cresent rolls, cut in small pieces, to wrap lil smokies, and they are always a hit at parties. Same goes for crescent rolls & chocolate chips. But I do have some puff pastry in the freezer now so I’ll have to give that a try. Thanks for the great ideas!
