Essential Oils

We love essential oils and are big fans of their healing properties. When you have a cold with chills and a fever, the best oils to reduce the fever are chamomile, black pepper, peppermint, hyssop, lemon and tea tree. These oils can be applied by means of a cool compress to the head or a few drops can be added to a lukewarm bath.

If you have reached the achy joints and sore muscles stage, the best oils for massaging stiff sore areas are tea tree, eucalyptus, ginger, black pepper, rosemary, cypress and lavender.

If the cold has progressed to the congested stage, burning them by the bedside in an aroma lamp will help. Some recommended oils for congestion are sandalwood, eucalyptus, cedarwood, peppermint, rosemary, frankincense and hyssop.

Tips & Tricks

Blow your nose… the right way.

It’s important to blow your nose regularly when you have a cold rather than sniffling mucus back into your head. But when you blow hard, pressure can cause an earache.

Get lots of rest!

Gargle with a teaspoon of salt dissolved in warm water, four times daily.

Hot liquids relieve nasal congestion, help prevent dehydration, and soothe the uncomfortably inflamed membranes that line your nose and throat.

Wash your hands as often as possible, with soap and hot water.
