Brownies have long been a family favorite in my house. These chocolatey and chewy treats have almost become a ritual whenever family or friends come to dinner at our house. Sometimes topped with a dollop of ice cream, other times just as is, but always served with a glass of milk, I can hardly think of a person that wouldn’t enjoy a little bit of brownie amongst friends.
This year, our family has been approaching our food choices a little differently. Mom and dad have both been focusing on fitness and health, and we have noticed our smarter choices have been rubbing off on the kids. The more “smart” foods we have in the house, the less likely the kids will reach for the junk food. From the ingredients we choose in our meals to the brands we choose for them, we try to make the best and healthiest choices when it comes to nourishing our bodies.
This doesn’t mean that all desserts are off the table, however. It just means that when we make our dessert treats we try to make them smarter. We try to substitute healthier alternatives to sugar, and do things like use grass-fed butter instead of margarine.
I would like to say that our famous brownie recipe just can’t be beat, especially when served with a nice cold glass of fairlife ultra-filtered milk. The reason we choose fairlife ultra-filtered milk is fairlife starts with high-quality real milk and runs it through their unique filtration system. They offer 13g of protein, 30% more calcium and half the sugar of traditional dairy milk per serving, and it is lactose free. fairlife ultra-filtered milk helps me make smarter choices and turns even this family favorite into a smarter choice thanks to the quality of their milk.
That’s why I call these “smarter” brownies, because with more protein, calcium and half the sugar than regular milk, I feel good serving these brownies with a nice cool glass of fairlife ultra-filtered milk. If I feel better, I will perform better, and even when it comes to sweets, fairlife ultra-filtered milk can help make those choices “smarter.”
3⁄4 cup flour
1⁄4 teaspoon Himalayan pink sea salt
1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
1⁄3 cup butter
2 tablespoons fairlife ultra-filtered milk
3 tablespoons stevia
2 cups organic semi-sweet cacao chips, divided
2 whole eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Hang tight with that for a minute.
Melt the butter, and add in the milk and stevia over low heat, while stirring the whole time. Right before boiling, take it off the heat and stir in 1 cup of the organic cacao chips.
Put the chocolate mix into a bowl, and stir in your eggs.
Mix in vanilla and your flour mixture.
Stir in the rest of the organic cacao chips.
Pour this mixture into a greased up 9-by-9-inch pan.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 325 degrees. Top the brownies with sea salt, and enjoy them with a tall glass of fairlife ultra-filtered milk.
Nothing makes our house happier than some healthy and delicious brownies, paired with a nice tall glass of fairlife ultra-filtered milk. It tastes good and feels good, and fortunately it doesn’t fall too far from our healthy eating. Plus, you’ve gotta have a treat every once in a while.
