Make Your Own Taco Bowls

I’m a huge mexican food fan. I could eat beans & rice everyday if I actually knew how to make it “the right way.” It’s no easy task and I prefer to leave it up to those who actually know what they’re doing.

However, one thing I wanted to learn was how to make taco bowls. You can make mini ones to serve condiments and of course, guacamole. mmm.

The trick to these fantastic, edible bowls is a muffin tin and some corn or flour tortillas. Really.

Saw this photo above on LifeHacker and after doing a little digging, found the original source.

Mini Taco Bowls

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 375.
2. Sprinkle each tortilla lightly with water and stack them on a plate. Cover the top with another plate turned upside down and microwave the tortillas for 1 minute or until warm. Turn two 12 cup muffin pans upside down. Mist each side of a tortilla lightly with cooking spray and center it in the space between 4 muffin cups, creating a bowl. Repeat with the 5 remaining tortillas, forming 3 bowls on each tin (as pictured above). Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes.

Serve with your favorite salsa, guacamole or you can make mini taco salads.

The possibilites are endless.

I love the idea of a mini-sized one for things like that! I actually found a tin that is shaped like that to make big ones. We will have taco salads in them at times. I think I bought it at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx for just a few bucks.

That’s awesome! I noticed that my daughter will eat more of her meal if it’s in weird shapes. Is that strange? haha

No!! They love it when it looks fun and so do I! It makes the meal more appealing and exciting. :)

Have you seen those lunch box photos on Pinterest where the moms made animals/fun shapes out of the food for their kids school lunches. That’s a little too ambitious for me, but it’s cute to see.

I saw them but am a little intimidated by them. I bet if I practiced I could do it. We use cookie cutters for the sandwiches and that seems to be a huge hit.
