It’s old, it’s stained, and it smells a little bit funny, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.  My “man chair” is a little less of a piece of furniture, and a little more like another child.

I’m sure a lot of you, or at least your husbands have a hard time getting rid of that favorite chair that sits in your living room.  I’m not sure if it is more of a function item or an honest to goodness antique that belongs in a museum.

It doesn’t match a single thing in the entire place but it’s so well worn in that it’s hard to not work your way into it and not fall asleep before the evening news has even started.  It’s old fashioned, creaks and squeaks, but it’s the perfect representation of my personality.  “Can we please get a new chair? That one is so old, wouldn’t you like a new one?” my wife pleads with me from time to time.  “When I get old are you just going to throw me out?” I coyly reply.

I can hear her mumbling something about, how I smell a little bit better, but just by a little.  It’s not that I wouldn’t like a new chair, sure I would.  It’s just hard to pry a creature of habit away from something that I could only describe as “the kind of chair they must have in heaven”.  I enjoy the fact that it’s is as worn as well as the moments Ive sat atop of it.  It’s been there for me through a broken ankle, it’s been there for me though a torn MCL, it has been there for me through enough sports injuries that I am surprised it doesn’t have its own ice bucket attached.

“You and that chair”, my wife laughs and shakes her head.  To be honest, I have been thinking about getting a new one lately.  I’m not sure that I am ready to part with my chair just yet, and I havent broken the news to my wife, but I definitely know where to start, Havertys.  Havertys offers friendly service, affordable prices, and high quality furniture.  Find a local store here to see what I mean, and maybe you too can consider easing out of your “man chair” and easing into something a little more….modern.
