Today’s Featured Wine is Jacob’s Creek Classic Moscato 2010

Moscato is the Italian word for ‘Muscat’, and the name muscat refers to both the wine style and range of muscat flavored grapes used to make highly flavored wines such as Moscato. While there are many muscat’ grapes used for wine, Jacob’s Creek uses two principle grape varieties to make both still and sparkling Moscato, the first is Muscat of Alexandria and the second is Muscat Blanc a’ Petits Grains. Muscat grapes range in color from white to almost black and have a definite sweet and floral aroma with a musky and sweet flavor.

This delicate frizzante Moscato displays attractive tropical and subtle pear fruit flavors and aromas, with a great balance.

Moscato is one of my favorite dessert wines. I especially love it in the summer time with fruit. I am often known to put some sliced apples, peaches or even a strawberry into my moscato. I have no shame… I like the sweetness of this wine. As I’ve recently found out, most wine lovers who enjoy a nice glass of red aren’t really fond of the super sweet moscato. However, I think they would love to make an exception here. This wine isn’t super sickeningly sweet, it’s just right.
