Board games are great when you are feeling bored! Switch it up and play a new game each time to keep the fun flowing. Our current favorite: The Cupcake Race Board Game.
Before you cringe, I’ll let you in on a little secret. They make stickers that are re-usable. Say what? They also make stickers that are re-usable and come with a book to stick them in.
These little gems are from Melissa & Doug and they are aweeeesome.
3. Make & play with Homemade Kool-aid Playdough
1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup salt
3 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
1 package Kool-Aid Mix (any flavor of unsweetened)
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Mix dry ingredients together in a large saucepan. Slowly add water mixed with oil and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens to dough. Turn out onto a heatproof bread board or counter top and knead until cool enough for children to handle. Dough will be the color of the Kool-Aid mix and will smell like the Kool-Aid mix. (Can be stored in a tightly covered container for up to six months)
4. Dance Party
If you have a wii, or even a way to play music, turn it up and have a dance party. Play dance-off and see who can come up with the coolest moves! This is a fun thing we do around our house and also gets the kids to dance their wiggles out!
5. BabbaCo BabbaBox
The BabbaBox makes an absolute perfect solution for those indoor blues! If it is too cold, too dark, too grey to play outside, create an incredibly warm, rich world by playing pretend with your child. We all know that we can go a little stir crazy looking for great activities in the post-holiday winter slow down, and the “My Awesome Adventures” BabbaBox provides the perfect antidote!
Each month, the BabbaBox is delivered right to your door and features a wealth of activities all organized around a theme that kids 3-7 totally love. Most importantly, it helps parents spend more quality time with their kids without having to think up creative ideas or go out and buy materials. All you need to do is open up the box and enjoy!
Has your child ever pretended to be an astronaut? What about had a play date with their favorite stuffed animal? When kids use their imaginations, not only do they have a ton of fun, but they develop the abstract thinking skills that are so important for academic learning later on. Engaging in pretend play also helps kids learn impulse control – which turns out to be even more important for school success than IQ! So by encouraging your kids to exercise their imaginations, you’re helping lay the foundation for future success. Who knew learning could be such an Amazing Adventure!
This month the BabbaBox has partnered with Shutterfly so that you can bring your child’s Amazing Adventures to life.
