Yummy Jello? Yes! There is such a thing.
This past weekend, 3 of the Modern Day Moms got together for the 1st Birthday Party of Jasmine’s adorable son! During that party, they experienced what they called “the best jello ever”. That’s not really something you hear very often… I mean, jello is good, the kids love it, but I wouldn’t consider it spectacular or anything… that was until I actually made Ana’s Jello Recipe today.
Two Words: MMM MMM. Technically, that’s two sounds but that’s all I could get out of my mouth after trying this recipe! What is it you may ask?
Colorful layered jello divided by creamy, milky layers.
When Jasmine passed on the recipe to me for a quick post on the site, I knew I had to try it and I’m so glad I did. I will share Ana’s recipe below and also include a few notes as this was my first time making it.
Here is my attempt:
Ana’s Jello Recipe
What You’ll Need:
4 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 cans of condensed milk
4 big jello boxes (orange, blue raspberry, strawberry, lime)
20 cups of water (divide in 2: 10 cups in each pot to boil. Reason: you may not be able to fit the enter amount in one pot.)Ana’s Note: You need to know these amounts in this recipe are doubled, the original recipe was half of these ingredients (using the small jello boxes) but it was never enough so its been doubled every time I’ve made it.
My Note: This is SO true. I used the 3oz boxes of Jello because that is what I had. It spread the jello layers pretty thin (except orange, I had double orange). You can definitely tell the difference between my attempt and hers. I would suggest using the large boxes no matter what.
Directions:
1. Boil 20 cups of water in 2 separate batches (10 cups in each pot).
2. Have 6 separate bowls handy. 5 cereal bowls and 1 medium sized bowl. In the medium sized bowl, you will mix the condensed milk and 2 cups of the hot water. In 4 bowls, you will mix each box of jello with 2 cups of hot water (one flavor for each bowl). In the last bowl, you will mix the 4 envelopes of unflavored gelatin with 2 cups of water and after it has been diluted completely add to the milk mixture.
3. In a large pyrex (lasagna size), lightly spray the bottom with Pam so the first layer won’t stick. Start with a colored jello and eventually you are going to alternate with the milk mixture, each layer should be about 2 cups.
Ana’s Note: Each layer will need to set for 30 minutes before pouring on the next layer.
4. The first layer will always take the longest to set, touch with your finger and it should be clean. and then pour the next layer. I always make sure I have an entire shelf clear in the fridge and I don’t take the dish completely out, I try to pour inside the fridge (does that make sense?), anyway, the whole process will take a good 2 to 3 hours depending on how fast each layer sets.
My Note: One thing I realized, while waiting for each layer to set in the fridge, the ones that are sitting out waiting to be poured may harden up a bit, especially the milk mixture.. to solve this problem, I spun it around in the microwave for a minute or less and it was fine when it was time to pour!
Ana says: “Have fun with this recipe, you’ll find yourself making this for every holiday with different colors and shapes. What I did when the kids where young was the same recipe but instead of using a large lasagna pan I would use smaller ones so the layers where thinner and then used cookie cutters according to the holiday.”
Thanks Ana for sharing your delicious jello recipe with us! I know I will be making this for many years to come.

13 years agoAs someone who was present to taste these things… I have to say they were SO FREAKING GOOD! I lost track of how many Jasmine’s dad and I ate.
Kid: “Hey, can I have that one?”
Jasmine’s dad: “Oh no. Sorry. That’s a bad one. (Eats it)”
