Welcome to Jess T.’s Tech Tuesday, where all your geek are belong to us!
Oh yes, you read that right.
You might have missed the memo on Cloo (short for “community loo”), a concept app that may (or may not) become the newest way to find a place to pee in your city.
The idea is based on social networking, assuming that everyone is friends of friends with everyone. Incorporating Facebook, Twitter, and other sites, Cloo can link you with a clean, comfy, usable toilet nearby… for a fee.
While this might be especially helpful for families with small kids who can’t hold it until you get to wherever you’re going, would any parent (or anyone for that matter) really be comfortable renting out a strangers toilet?! I guess when you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go!
While the app is still in the “what if” stages, you can check out their website to get the idea of how this might play out. I mean, not only would you be making money off of letting strangers pee in your house, those strangers could also take pictures of your bathroom to link to ratings, visible to all users of the app. Your bathroom could be (in)famous!
So if this app does become a reality, will you try it? Or would you much rather find a bush or a dark alley to do your emergency business than shell out $2.50 to piddle at John Doe’s?

13 years agoI think it might be dangerous to be letting strangers come into your house. Some seedy individuals might use this as a way of gaining entrance into your home to scope it out for a future unsupervised visit in which they would help themselves to your belongings or even worse to check out your family. As a mom I understand the need for a bathroom especially when your out garage saleing with a little one in tow but I wouldn’t be going into strangers homes. The convience doesn’t outweigh the risks.

13 years agoI totally agree, Sarah! My husband’s first response was, “NO ONE with children (or brains) will ever let strangers into their house, even if they are friends-of-friends on Facebook!”

13 years agoMwahaha I’d have the app, just so someone could have hope of relieving themselves, then decline every.single.request.
