My husband was out picking up some groceries for us last week, and came home with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey. He thought it sounded good and wanted to give it a try. I wasn’t really convinced. I mean, it seemed like one of those things that sounds good, but in reality is awful.
I wasn’t really sure what I was going to make out of honey whiskey. On first taste, I was stunned by the sweetness! There’s no getting around it. It’s sweet. Too sweet for my taste. But he’s been drinking it here and there in a glass of coke. I sampled his drink, and it actually tastes kind of like a vanilla Coke. So, if that’s your thing, there you go!
I had to come up with something else, though. I went Mojito style. The mint really helps calm the sweetness of this whiskey, and I wound up really liking it! This is the easiest drink you’ll ever mix, so if you needed something quick to add to your Holiday party cocktail list, give this a try.
4 oz. Jack Daniel’s Honey Whiskey
6 fresh mint leaves plus more for garnish
Ice
To serve, press the mint leaves around the side of a small glass with a spoon until the oils have been released. Add ice. Pour the whiskey over the ice, and stir to mix in the mint leaves. Garnish with more mint. Enjoy!
