I LOVE Cougar Town. Well, basically I love *almost* anything that any of the 6 former Friends’ do… throw some Scrubs people into the mix and I’m in heaven. Cougar Town turned into an immediate fave of mine, I love the Cul-de-Sac Crew and especially the Big Carl (it’s my goal to get my own giant wine glass someday and name it Big Ron).
They hang out in Courteney Cox’s character, Jules’ kitchen a lot. I noticed some FAB letters on the wall in bright colored fabric and great patterns that spelled out EAT.
I had empty wall space in my kitchen and thought those would be perfect, so I set out on a search to find these letters, only to discover that they were outrageously priced.
So I had the thought that every self-proclaimed crafter does…. I could TOTALLY make that!! I wanted to go simple, so I went with paint and scrapbook paper instead of fabric, though. They ended up only costing a few dollars per letter, so I was happy.
What you’ll need:
Cardboard letters (Joanne, Michaels and Hobby Lobby all carry them)
Brushes
Paint
Scrapbook paper
Glue stick
Mod podge (I like the matte finish, but glossy works too)
Adhesive felt dots (optional)
Drill (or in my case, a husband with a drill – otherwise there may have been a trip to the emergency room involved)
Steps:
Paint the cardboard letters. You could paint each one differently, but I opted to do all of mine the same.
Trace the letters onto the back of the scrapbook paper and cut them out. Glue the scrapbook paper to the letter using the glue stick. Let it dry completely.
Mod podge the entire letter. I did a few coats.
Drill small holes into the back to hang, make sure they’re level and lined up.
(I put those little felt adhesive dots on the back of mine because, let’s be honest, I was too impatient to wait for them to dry all the way and I didn’t want the glue or paint to get on the wall.)
Because there are so many options with the amount of fun scrapbook paper there is out there, the possibilities are endless!!
My BFF has one that says MANGIA’ in her kitchen, which is EAT’ in Italian. These would also be great for a nursery using the baby’s name, or the family’s last name on a picture wall, or even holiday themed (BOO, THANKS, JOY, etc.)
Have fun with it!
