Visiting Florida: See & Do Travel Guide

I am lucky to call myself a Floridian although I wasn’t always a resident. I grew up in California, by the beach, and always loved the coast. When I met my husband over 7 years ago, we decided to move to Florida where he had lived for many years.

Since we have lived here, I have made it my mission to explore all that Florida has to offer (which is a lot) so I want to share some of those places with you today.

Amelia Island, Florida

When recommending a place to stay on Amelia Island, one place comes to mind: Omni Amelia Island Plantation.

Nestled on the tip of Northeast Florida’s barrier island, Omni Amelia Island Plantation is located on the tip of Amelia Island, one of the barrier islands off the Northeast Florida coast. Atlantic beachfront on all sides with marshlands, lakes, and a canopy of ancient live oaks, covered in Spanish moss.

The plantation is a gated luxury resort boasting 1,350 acres of canopied oaks and ocean views, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation offers 404 oceanfront guest rooms and spacious multi-bedroom villas. Also featuring the most seaside golf holes in Florida, the resort boasts Racquet Park, a world-renowned tennis complex and a variety of recreational opportunities to work up an appetite.

sanibel

Sanibel Island & Captiva, Florida

True story: when my husband and I got married, we wanted to have a honeymoon close to home because Florida is a vacation in itself so we headed down the 41 and stumbled upon Sanibel Island. We fell in love. To this day, we try to make it a yearly thing. Head over to Sanibel Inn and South Seas Island Resort for some laid-back, family-friendly relaxation.

Naples, Florida

Naples, Florida is absolutely breathtaking. When visiting Naples, we recommend LaPlaya as a family-friendly place to stay with a trip to the Naples Zoo! So fun! At Baleen, two words: Truffle Fries.

Orlando, Florida

Aside from the obvious DisneyWorld, we recommend visiting Legoland! For places to stay, the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate is one of our favorite places. You have to try the lazy river. Please take our word for it.

Another option would be the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa for a fun family-friendly resort with a pirate ship pool!

LBV

and of course, the fun & fabulous Hard Rock Hotel Orlando, especially if you want to visit Universal Studios!!!

Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg

If you are ever in the Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg area, you can stay at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club.

Atlantic Side of Florida

You’d think we’d stop there but that’s not all. There’s also the Atlantic side of Florida… We have visited Palm Beach, Florida and stayed at the Brazilian Court Hotel. So classic, romantic and wonderful. There is also Club Med at Sandpiper Bay which we consider to be one of the most family friendly places we’ve stayed. You’ve found your jewel when it comes to all inclusive resorts for families with ClubMed.

We also love Cocoa Beach and the laid-back surfer feel that it gives. There’s also Daytona Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Jacksonville. The possibilities are endless when it comes to Florida. We hope you will explore!

I have been to Florida five times and I think it’s just beautiful. I think it’s time for another Florida trip pretty soon. Thanks for the tips and the beautiful pictures. It’s always nice to get an insiders view on things when planning a visit.
