After posting about dying my hair on facebook, I got a lot of requests to post a pic! I decided to tell you how I came up with the color too.
In case you haven’t noticed, lavender hair is totally in and I’ve been collecting inspiration photos for months.
Love these too:
I have to note that I was working with already blonde/platinum hair with freshly touched-up roots as I’ve been touching up my roots for years. That process is a whole other blog post that if you want me to share, I will. If you are working with blonde hair already, this should be easy for you. I am not a professional, I’ve just learned from years and years of experience.
For best color results, starting your hair out with the lightest shade of blonde works best. If you are afraid of using bleach & toner, I would suggest making an appointment to at least get that part of the process done. The rest is as simple as pie.
For my own personal process to get my hair to the blonde shade I want (almost white), I do the following: lift my roots with bleach/developer & then lift the rest of my hair before toning with Wella White Lady toner. The process for me is pretty simple since I’ve maintained this color.
As for the perfect lavender shade… this is the semi-permanent trick:
Beyond the Zone Color Jamz Raspberry Kamikazie & Beyond the Zone Color Jamz Purple Passion.
Mixing 1 tsp of each of these colors in a bowl and then adding 1/2 cup of conditioner. Mix all together. This will dilute the color producing pastel results. Apply to hair and leave on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. Repeat if needed.
I found these colors at Sally’s today and they are currently on sale. $11 for both! The result was a pretty shade of lavender that doesn’t wash me out.
I know there are other professional colors out there including the pastels from Pravana but I haven’t found amazing results from them that I’ve been looking for and I think that’s because I want something subtle from the start. I don’t want to wait for something to fade.
Hooray for pretty pink/purple hair!
