This is an aromatherapy diffuser and if you haven’t heard about them before, let me give you a little background.
What are they?
Diffusers do a great job of filling the air with microscopic particles of your chosen essential oil and water. The essential oils and water are diffused by ultrasound waves, adding humidity to the air while filling the room with aromatics. This is extremely beneficial when you or someone in your family is sick.
We use a few of these diffusers around our house and depending on the day, fill it with different essential oils. Today, my daughter and I are sick so I have “Clear The Air” (link below) by Now Foods mixed in with the water. It is a blend of peppermint, rosemary and eucalyptus.
Cleaning
Cleaning your diffuser is fairly simple. They say not to use distilled or purified water and clean it after every use by letting vinegar sit inside of it for about 10 minutes. Sometimes I let it sit for 5, sometimes for 15. I then take a q-tip and clean off the magnet part on the inside. This has kept my diffuser in good shape and it has continued working for quite some time. I would say that the vinegar is an important step in maintaining your diffuser.
Using them
Since my husband is not partial to artificial scents, we have turned more towards essential oils in our daily lives. I find myself using different oils on different days, or at different times. For example: When using a diffuser, it’s best to add 5-10 drops of your essential oil. You can blend, mix and match, whatever suits your mood. On a sunny, clear day, I love using citrus essential oils. I like the mix of grapefruit and lime. In the evening, when I’m trying to wind down, I use a blend of lavender and chamomile. It really depends on your mood and what you feel like putting into the air.

10 years agoHi there, I am just now discovering essential oils. I’m wanting to buy a diffuser but have read that ultrasonic diffusers shouldn’t be used with citrus oils. Is this correct? If so, what do you recommend?
Thank!

9 years agoSorry I’m late to the conversation, but I’m interested to know which ones say citrus oil is ok to use? You stated above you use citrus in one or more.

9 years agoDo you know if I have to buy the oils from the company I got the diffuser from? Like I bought my diffuser and starter kit from Youngliving but can I buy oils from somewhere else?

8 years agoI bought a car mini diffuser and Love the one that works the other has nt worked right from the start, but now not at all.
I’m wondering if I should try the vinegar clean out? I’ve wind the small silver disc with alcohol. Should I try replacing the small tubular filter?
Thank you in advance.
