Simple, quick, low calorie and healthy smoothies are a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth and help you slim down. Dr. Ian Smith, co-host of The Doctors and creator of Super SHRED: The Big Results Diet, offers three great recipes that hit the spot and beat the heat!
Classic Blueberry Mango Smoothie (pictured)
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 2
1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
1 cup mango chunks
cup vanilla soy milk, almond milk, skim milk, or water
1 cup plain yogurt
cup ice chips, optional
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and puree until smooth. Refrigerate until drink is desired temperature. If you want to drink immediately, simply add cup ice chips to the ingredients.
Fruit Power Smoothie
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 4
1 cup strawberries
cup blueberries
1 kiwi, peeled & sliced
1 banana, peeled & chopped
1 cup ice cubes
1 8-ounce container peach yogurt
cup orange juice (not from concentrate)
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and puree until smooth. Refrigerate until drink is desired temperature.
Green Power Machine
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 2
cup apple, peeled, cored, & chopped
4 kale leaves chopped
cup chopped mango
6 romaine leaves chopped
cup fresh parsley sprigs
1 inch fresh ginger root, peeled & chopped
1 cup of water
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and puree until smooth. Refrigerate until drink is desired temperature.
