This tutorial is fun and an inexpensive way to decorate your house with expensive looking canvas prints. They became very popular over the last couple of years or so and we have a way to make your own for a fraction of the cost!
You will need:
-blank canvas
-tissue paper
-mod podge
-brush
-a printer
-tape
-printer paper
I will be honest with you, the very first time I did it, it was a success. This time, not so much. I’m thinking it might be because I was trying to use my new, top-feed printer. I don’t know. My original printer is low on ink, so I couldn’t use it.
Here are the instructions:
First, grab a sheet of printer paper. You won’t need to do anything special if you are making 8X10 canvas prints. Lay your tissue paper over top of it and begin cutting one inch wider than the paper.
Flip it over (first make sure that the dull side of the tissue paper is facing up) and fold the extra edges over and tape them down onto the paper.
Feed your paper through how you would normally feed it. On mine, I had to fold it with the tissue side facing down.
Once it has printed, give it enough time to dry then cut your tissue paper off by cutting to the edges so as not to lose any of your print.
Mod Podge a layer onto your blank canvas then gently lay your print down onto it. Rub it on starting at the middle and working your way out, careful not to tear it or wrinkle it, although some small wrinkles may be inevitable. Don’t worry, from a distance they aren’t really noticeable.
Sorry I don’t have photos of this whole process, but I couldn’t get a print out from my new printer. It kept jamming.
Mod Podge any edges down and allow it to dry for a few hours. Voila!
