3 Ingredient Cereal Bars

School mornings and breakfast are always crazy at my house and besides cereal or bananas we are always trying to find a new fast option. I also have a kid that loves treats after dinner and some days the last thing he needs is sugar, he has plenty of energy. I had heard about moms taking the Rice Krispy treat idea and turning it into a cereal bar so I figured I would try it out. And the best part is if you have a kid with a peanut allergy you can use almond butter, or I make it that way so that it can go to school in a lunchbox no problem.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Peanut Butter (Almond Butter works too)
1/2 cup Honey
3 cups Cheerios (Plain)
Parchment Paper
Baking Pan (rectangular or square)

Directions:

Line your baking pan with parchment paper

Mix Peanut Butter and Honey together in a saucepan and place on stove, with very low heat. Simmer until the two blend together and stir. It will only need a couple of minutes.

Remove saucepan from stove and pour Cheerios into saucepan. Stir until all of the cheerios are covered.

Pour mixture onto the parchment paper and press in tightly. Let mixture cool for an hour.

Pull the parchment paper with cereal bars out and cut into squares.

    Tracie,

I Love this idea. I have twin toddlers, but we have a honey allergy in our home any ideas on a alternet ingredient?

    Hi Sarah,
Maple syrup would work as a substitute and be perfect. Or a light molasses but just make sure it’s not too thick. Let me know how they turn out and what you used.
