As a Mom, You Learn to Expect the Unexpected

“As a Mom, You Learn to Expect the Unexpected”

I was taking my first trip away from my family since my second daughter had been born. In many ways, she was very different from my first, like always getting into things and fussing when she didn’t get her way. If it weren’t for the fact that this was a very important work trip, I wouldn’t have even considered leaving my husband alone with the two girls.

My trip went wonderfully, and upon my return, my husband told me how nice the house looked and that he spent a lot of time cleaning. Definitely an unexpected surprise. I was looking forward to coming home after a long trip to a nice clean house. Unfortunately, the girls must have had other plans. Somehow, in between the time I got back on my short flight and when I got home, my older daughter used the fact that my husband was busy chasing around our youngest to her advantage. She got out Legos on the kitchen table, she had her drawing pad next to the computer, various plates and cups from snacks were all over the kitchen counter, and the living room was a disaster filled with toys to keep the baby entertained.

The look on my husband’s face was priceless when he said, “Well, it was clean.” Of course, I didn’t mind, but it certainly was unexpected.

On the flipside, sometimes things turn out better than planned. Despite the mess and the frazzled look on his face, he still managed to put together a delicious dinner for me to enjoy after a long day of traveling.

I was expecting to scour the fridge for some leftovers, but he took the time to whip together one of our family’s favorite comfort foods: chicken and waffles, fresh homemade mashed potatoes, and sautéed green beans. He played it perfectly, waiting for me as it was kept warm in the oven. It’s little things like this that show he really cares and that it’s the thought that counts.

I never know what to expect coming home after a trip. Sometimes it’s better than expected, and other times it’s a disaster. Either way, I’m happy to be home with my loving family. Life has its ups and downs, its successes and failures—and I think I like it that way. I don’t always know what to expect each day, but I can expect to get the nutrients I’m seeking with my Nature Made® Adult Energy†† B12 or Vitamin C or Vitamin D or Fish Oil Gummies, which are USP certified for purity and potency.
