Being There For Family Even When You Can't Actually Be There

“Being There For Family Even When You Can’t Actually Be There”

When my husband and I got married, I inherited a new brother and three lovely and independent sisters that have all made such an impact on my life. Each of them with their own unique personalities and traits that I hold dear to my heart, I have enjoyed many memories together with them throughout the years.

It is no small feat to graduate high school, and this year one of the sisters is graduating. This is such a pivotal point in a young person’s life and I am excited to see all the many great things she will do as she embarks on the next chapter and moves on to college.

As I am writing this, I too am embarking on my own next chapter. In a little more than a month, I will be giving birth to a beautiful baby girl. For a healthy baby, the timing is always right. For a graduation however, my doctor has advised me not to travel starting the weekend of the graduation up until the birth.

You can see why:

It’s unfortunate that we won’t be able to attend the graduation, and though I know she understands, it would be nice to be able to see it somehow. I would really delight in seeing her face light up as she is called across the stage to receive her diploma.

XFINITY is launching a new feature to their X1 Platform that allows you to share your moments to a TV screen and even store them on the cloud too. How perfect it would be for me to get the next best thing to being there in person, a front row view on my television screen. From your mobile device, and only through XFINITY, I could share in a moment that I am sad to miss. This type of technology is amazing, and as my life gets busier, now with a second child, I could see the many uses I would be appreciative of it in the future.

I remember from my first child how many small events I wish I could have attended but was preoccupied to being “mommy.” It’s not that being mommy isn’t the most important job, it is, but I would have liked to have been front row at a reggae concert with my husband also. It would have been nice to get a real-time update of what was going on at our neighborhood association meeting, or even just watching get-togethers from afar. I can’t wait to see what opportunities will open up for me, and the memories I won’t have to miss out on anymore.
