I was looking for a way to cut down the calories in my morning smoothie. I wanted something that would help me feel fuller for longer, but also be just as healthy, if not healthier than the regular milk I was already drinking. I looked at all of the different options my local store offered and most seemed bland and tasteless, until I noticed something different on the shelf. I had probably looked right over it a hundred times in my normal shopping, but today would be different. I picked up a container of Silk Vanilla Almondmilk, and it looked like a pretty good alternative for my smoothies. Something about it seemed like it would be a more natural and healthy addition. As I started reading the nutritional information I realized it was exactly what I was looking for. Could it be that it was lower in calories than the low-fat milk I was already drinking, but also flavored with vanilla?! It looked absolutely great, and a perfect way to continue on my healthy smoothie breakfast routine.
I thought I would give it a try, so I put it into my shopping cart and finished up the rest of my hunting around the store. As I returned home, I put it into my refrigerator and hearly forgot about it when the next morning came. Almost by habit, I reached for the milk, but it wasn’t there. I measured out about a cup of the Silk Vanilla Almondmilk, and then went on to measure some fresh fruit into my blender. Lastly, I added a scoop of protein powder and thought to myself “here goes nothing”, as I started the blending. I was pleased how much lower in calories is was, thought adding almonds to my diet, even in the form of milk would be a great idea anyhow.
As the mixture became smooth, boy was I right. Out poured a delicious and wonderful tasting smoothie, with a delicate texture that was similar but smoother than the milk I had been using before. This was exactly what I needed to stay on track with my health and fitness goals. By drinking Silk Vanilla Almondmilk, I have broken through another weight loss plateau, and am that much closer to my healthy goal weight.
