Cinnamon French Toast

Most mornings, I barely pull it together to pour some milk and cereal into a bowl and then there is THOSE mornings… You know? The ones after getting 6 full hours of sleep the night before. The ones where you feel like the clothes will only go thru the dryer twice that day instead of the usual 5, 6, maybe 7 times.

This morning was one of the good ones… I had my hair and makeup done before 830. And my kids asked for cinnamon French toast and scrambled eggs. I jumped right on it, because it sounded delish and I wanted some too!

So here is my quick and simple recipe. My kids usually ask for seconds. And I admit, it may or may not give them a little sugar rush, but after they’re plates are cleared and they have smiles from ear to ear, it is always worth the bouncing off of walls.

What You Need:

  • Bread
  • Eggs
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Powdered Sugar
  • A Bowl
  • A Whisk
  • A good sized Pan

Directions:

  • Start by heating a pan on low to medium heat. You will want the toast to have a slight crispy outside but soft middle.
  • Whisk together a few eggs (I used 3 for 3 pieces of bread) and just enough sprinkled cinnamon and sugar to cover the top of eggs.

  • Take a piece of bread and dip it in the egg mixture. You want to ensure both sides are equally coated. I usually use a spoon or fork to push the bread under the mixture. And then use my hands to take it out, allowing the extra egg to drip off somewhat.

  • Place it in the pan and after a few minutes, give it a flip. You want it to have that nice, golden brown look.

  • Once you have your pieces of toast all done, sprinkle with some powdered sugar.

This French toast is yummy enough just like this, but I’m a butter and syrup lover so I always add some to my plate.
