Welcome to our DIY Crafts series! DIY Crafts is focused on crafts that we have done, crafts that we will do and crafts that others have done that we feel deserve the “Craft Spotlight“. We invite you to check back often as we share these projects with you. You can view all of the DIY Crafts by visiting our DIY and Arts & Crafts section.
This DIY Craft is pretty simple, yet stunning. If you are a lover of all things colorful and useful, you might enjoy these dipped wooden utensils.
I recently came across a blog post on Little Bit Funky: Painting Wooden Spoons. Hmm, intrigued. LOVE the colors.
This craft really caught my eye. Check out her before & after photos:
Of course, she mentioned that once they are dry they will be coated with a layer of food/baby/people safe shellac. She used regular non-toxic craft paint and was sure to keep her painted area pretty far from where it would come in contact with food on a regular basis.
The idea originally came from this post on house of earnest.
Erin from house of earnest says “I just taped my line, used a little craft paint, and finished off with a high gloss food safe shellac to give them that enameled look.
Small side note, however, you should hand wash these, as any wooden kitchen accessory and be mindful of the painted area if using them to cook as it could melt or chip.”
Thank you to Little Bit Funky and House of Earnest for giving us permission to spotlight their crafts and feature their photos today.
