In school my son has been studying planets and with Earth Day just around the corner it seemed like a great idea to try and make Earth cookies. They are fun, easy and can be made from scratch or there are several ways to make the baking as easy as possible. A fun way to celebrate Earth Day on April 22, 2015. We are going to be making other planet cookies and creating an edible solar system to share.
Food Coloring (I used Gel Food Coloring)
Sugar Cookie Mix
Butter (1/2 cup according to the mix I used)
Egg (according to the mix I used)
Pre-heat the oven to 375.
Make the sugar cookie batter. I used a package mix to make it quicker, or you can use pre-made batter or cookies from scratch.
Once the batter is ready divide it into two bowls.
Add green food coloring to one bowl and blue to the other. We made them bright green and blue.
My cookie dough was a little sticky so I place blue cookie balls on the baking sheet and then we added green dough to them. If your dough is a little firmer you can roll the two colors together and then place onto baking sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes and when they come out you can see little earth cookies!
