I’ve recently made it a mission to eat better, cook my own foods and stop buying as much processed food from the store. It’s not as easy as it may sound. Believe me, however, I’ve noticed with a little planning, I am able to create easy & delicious meals with healthier ingredients.

Take today for example. I needed a pie crust and cream of mushroom soup for a chicken & broccoli pie I was making. Instead of rushing to the store, I decided to make my own soup and pie crust. It was so easy! While I will be featuring the actual pie recipe later on this month, I wanted to share the easy fail-proof pie crust recipe!

It’s so easy… trust me!

Easy 10-Minute Homemade Pie Crust
using 4 Ingredients


All you need:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
2 TBSPs cold water (I used water from my water filter because it was guaranteed to be cold!)


Combine the flour and salt in medium bowl; Add shortening and use a fork and cut in the vegetable shortening until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle the mixture with water as you blend, use a spatula and play with the mixture until the mixture holds together. This was trial as you go. Add a little water, if you added too much, add a little flour, etc.

Shape the dough into ball; place on lightly floured surface, or you could do what I did and place the dough on lightly floured foil. Roll out dough to your thickness. Line pie plate with pastry and play with it until it’s perfect or in my case, good enough. :)

By eliminating ready-made and processed foods, I feel like I am making better choices in terms of my health. Wish me luck!
