Extending Your Table this Thanksgiving

“Extending Your Table this Thanksgiving”

This Thanksgiving, my parents will be up North and I surely will be missing them. Each Thanksgiving, my family makes sure to go all out. They are the kind of parents who will invite over anyone who doesn’t have a place to go and serve ham, turkey, and anything else you can think of.

One of my favorite dishes is green bean casserole. I also love “deconstructed green beans” or green beans wrapped in bacon. Oh yes, yes yes.

No matter what is made for a Thanksgiving dinner, it’s wonderful to just spend time together with family and talk about all the things you are thankful for. I know I have a lot to be thankful for this year!

Wrapped with a strip of bacon, these green bean bundles add an elegant touch to the Thanksgiving table. To get a head start, you can trim and blanch the beans a day in advance, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

  • 8 thick bacon slices
  • 6 Tbs. (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 3/4 tsp. roasted garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 lb. green beans, trimmed and blanched
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
