If you are a parent, you have probably said one of these things MORE than once. If you have a child older than 2, you may have said many of these things as recently as 5 minutes ago. The funny thing is, think about them for a minute…
1. DON’T MAKE ME REPEAT MYSELF
To our kids, is this really a threat? The only person this is annoying is US! We spend most of our days repeating ourselves, over and over and over….
and over again.
2. DON’T MAKE ME COUNT TO 3
Guilty. Sometimes I even count to 5, and then 10… and then I lose count or forget what number I’m on. Why are we complicating our day by offering to COUNT, OVER AND OVER AGAIN?
3. DON’T MAKE ME STOP THIS CAR
Let’s be honest, do you REALLY want to stop the car?
4. DON’T MAKE ME TELL YOUR DAD/MOM
Sigh. Sometimes it just needs to be resolved by someone other than you.
5. DON’T MAKE ME LEAVE THE STORE
Seriously. It probably took you an entire week to get to the store. The last thing you want to do is LEAVE it before you are done shopping!
Whatever your “don’t make me” phrase of choice is, I think they are more for helping our sanity than our kids. Am I right?
