Morning Routines: Facts About Starting The Day Off Right

“Morning Routines: Facts About Starting The Day Off Right”

Breakfast literally means to break the fast after a long night’s sleep. It is a crucial meal that refuels the body and the brain with energy and nutrients. Eating breakfast has been shown to improve mental alertness and physical performance.

Cereal is the number one food bought in supermarkets today and believe it or not, cereal has been around while quite a while. The first breakfast cereal was created in 1863 in New York by a vegetarian.

Here are a few fun facts about breakfast:

Oats contain high levels of soluble fibre, which act as a sponge, soaking up cholesterol – helping to lower cholesterol levels.

A study of 19,000 Americans called NHANES III found breakfast skippers are more likely to gain weight because they are more inclined to overcompensate for the loss of key nutrients at breakfast by eating more fat-rich, high-energy foods later in the day.

The largest egg ever had 5 yolks and was 31cm around the long axis.

We eat over 9,000,000 loaves of bread every single day. If they were put end to end they would stretch around the world 25 times each year.

For many young children, there could be as many as 14 hours between supper and breakfast the next morning.

People who skip breakfast are unlikely to make up their daily requirement for some vitamins and minerals that a simple breakfast would have provided.

One of my favorite go-to meals or breakfast is Quaker Oatmeal in peaches & cream, topped with organic raw coconut butter.

Oh my… Talk about delish. Do you have a breakfast favorite?

The benefits of a warm, filling bowl of oatmeal can keep you going all morning long.
Energy. Fiber. Heart Health.
