My mother used to host dinner parties all the time. I always remember the spotless kitchen, trays of h’orderves (appetizers) and good friends chatting it up!
When I bought my house, I knew I wanted to host dinner parties as well so I pinned a bunch of my favorite recipes and tips to help host the perfect party. One of my favorite appetizers to serve is Smoked-Salmon Crackers.
The recipe is simple.
4 ounces Neufchatel cheese, room temperature
3 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh chives
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
Coarse salt and ground pepper
24 butter crackers
6 thinly sliced radishes
4 ounces thinly sliced smoked salmon
Stir together cheese, chives, and horseradish; season with salt and pepper. Just before serving, spread cheese mixture on crackers and top with radishes and smoked salmon.
Another delicious treat to serve at a dinner party would be Gale Gand’s Salted Caramel Brownies.
4 ounces (squares) unsweetened chocolate
12 tablespoons butter
1 ½ cups sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon of kosher or sea salt plus ¼ teaspoon more to sprinkle over the top
1 cup (7 ounces) cut up chewy caramels such as Werther’s Baking Caramels (Scissors work great for this)
In a microwave proof bowl, melt the chocolate and butter together.
Remove the bowl and stir them slowly to combine well.
Add the sugar and stir, then crack in the eggs and stir them in along with the vanilla.
Add the flour and ½ teaspoon salt and stir to combine.
Add in the caramel pieces.
Turn the batter out into a parchment (or foil) lined 9×9 baking pan and spread the top surface to level it.
Sprinkle the remaining ¼ teaspoon salt over the surface.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
Let cool overnight then cut into squares.
Thankfully, by having the Touch2O Faucet installed, it makes cleanup a breeze. When you are busy entertaining and don’t have time to do much else, you can quickly wash a few dishes or cups if you need them without wasting all your time. It really does make things easier.
Plus, I love the way it looks.
Let me just say, preparing and cleaning up after dinner or a party is made extremely easy with the Delta Touch faucet. Now I won’t have to worry about making a mess of my sink and faucet because I am able to use my wrist to turn the faucet on when my hands are dirty. This is a lifesaver! It made our after dinner clean-up so easy that I really didn’t mind doing the dishes.. Shocking, I know.
Why do people treat mess like it’s a bad thing? It’s actually the evidence of a life well lived. When you’re out there making, creating, doing and playing, embrace your #HappiMess and let Delta kitchen and bath innovations help clean up so you can do it all again tomorrow.
