Brownies have long been a family favorite in my house. These chocolatey and chewy treats have almost become a ritual whenever family or friends come to dinner at our house. Sometimes topped with a dollop of ice cream, other times just as is, but always served with a glass of milk, I can hardly think of a person that wouldn’t enjoy a little bit of brownie amongst friends.

This year, our family has been approaching our food choices a little differently. Mom and dad have both been focusing on fitness and health, and we have noticed our smarter choices have been rubbing off on the kids. This doesn’t mean that all desserts are off the table, however. It just means that when we make our dessert treats we try to make them smarter. We try to substitute healthier alternatives to sugar, and do things like use grass-fed butter instead of margarine.

3⁄4 cup flour
1⁄4 teaspoon Himalayan pink sea salt
1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
1⁄3 cup butter
2 tablespoons fairlife ultra-filtered milk
3 tablespoons stevia
2 cups organic semi-sweet cacao chips, divided
2 whole eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla


Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Hang tight with that for a minute.
Melt the butter, and add in the milk and stevia over low heat, while stirring the whole time. Right before boiling, take it off the heat and stir in 1 cup of the organic cacao chips.

Put the chocolate mix into a bowl, and stir in your eggs.

Mix in vanilla and your flour mixture.

Stir in the rest of the organic cacao chips.

Pour this mixture into a greased up 9-by-9-inch pan.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 325 degrees. Top the brownies with sea salt, and enjoy them with a tall glass of fairlife ultra-filtered milk.
