As we are stepping into summertime one refreshing drink always comes into my mind. That drink is tea. For some reason a nice cold glass of tea always pops into my head when I am first starting to feel the warmth of springtime and the winter blues melt away.
Tea has long been a family tradition in my house, brewing large pots for the whole family to enjoy when we have get-togethers. I am the only tea drinker in my house now, however, and I just don’t have the space in my refrigerator to brew giant pots of tea. Usually I grab a delicious Pure Leaf™ Tea from the store in one of their many awesome flavors.
Lately though, I have become an avid (decaf) coffee lover, and when I am trying to get through the day and need to get my caffeine fix, tea isn’t always enough. I try to stay pretty healthy when it comes to my beverages and don’t like to add a lot of calories with them either. I came up with a pretty good mix that my husband loves, packed with more energy than a cup of coffee, still with 0 cal and the flavor of a delicious peach tea. This mix has satisfied both his love for tea and his need for extra energy.
Pure Leaf™ Tea really is one of my favorite brands. The unsweetened iced tea makes for a fantastic mixer in this drink. Though Pure Leaf™ Tea offers many delicious flavors, I find that I like the unsweetened the best. It has a very rich and flavorful taste, just like the tea my mom used to make. With a very natural flavor, it is actually my favorite tea on the market and the one I always reach for.
I chose to mix the tea, however, with a sparkling energy water in peach flavor. I mixed equal parts of the Pure Leaf iced tea with the sparkling energy water and found that they complemented each other quite well. Not only did they meld perfectly as far as taste was concerned, but it definitely gives the kick that you need in the afternoon to continue being “supermom” or “superdad.”
This isn’t a drink for the faint of heart, but a true caffeine addict will appreciate the buzz, and a real tea lover will be surprised by how the peach flavored water doesn’t take away from the taste of the tea. This is the perfect drink for my afternoon pick-me-up, and a great alternative on a hot day to a cup of steaming coffee. Drink this iced with equal parts and you will see what I mean.
