Better Defense Against Alzheimer’s Disease
Multiple studies have suggested that caffeine is a powerhouse against neurodegenerative diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s. The reason would be the stimulating effect of caffeine and how it impacts the central nervous system. Although the connection between caffeine and Alzheimer’s still needs more research, researchers believe that cognition is positively impacted.
A research review from Portugal, it was found that drinking 3-5 cups of coffee once you are middle-aged or older can reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s by 64 percent.
Alzheimer’s is not the only disease that coffee protects you from. Another disease that affects the brain, Parkinson’s, is just as debilitating. A meta-analysis discovered that 3 cups of coffee per day will lower your risk of Parkinson’s disease by nearly 28 percent.
