Hooded Eyelids
Hooded eyelids are not always hereditary. Drooping is a sign that your skin is lacking collagen. Getting older causes the collagen present in your skin to break down, forming wrinkles. Your eyelids may get heavier because of that. This may seem purely like a cosmetic problem, but if your eyelids are hanging too low, they could be impairing your vision. Leaving your eyelids uncorrected could lead to vision loss and astigmatism.
If the drooping is sudden and on only one side of the face, the issue could be serious. Loss of feeling on the face and hooded eyelids mean that the brain or cranial nerve has been injured. Or, it could be a brain tumor, aneurysm, untreated diabetes, or a stroke. Additionally, diseases like muscular dystrophy or multiple sclerosis could cause drooping eyelids.
