Bloodshot Eyes
Glassy, bloodshot eyes could be a sign that you spent most of the evening slinging back alcohol or crying over dramas on Netflix. In that case, you don’t have to worry. Just use some eye drops, and your peepers will return to normal.
On the flip side of that, bloodshot eyes that are also sore or impairing your vision could be problematic. If you have a bright red dot or mark in the white of the eye, it could be a subconjunctival hemorrhage. A blood vessel may break in the eye when you have been straining your eyes, coughing excessively, or experienced some kind of physical trauma.
Most of the time, you won’t have any pain from the hemorrhage, and it will vanish on its own within a few weeks. Pain, however, should be taken seriously. Call an optometrist if the hemorrhage doesn’t heal or if you feel pressure within the eyeball.
