Your Neck is Swollen
Is that lump in your throat from tears or from something else? A swollen neck could mean a lot of things, including swollen lymph nodes from an infection, goiter, or an overactive thyroid associated with Graves’ disease.
Goiter is less common these days than it was a few centuries ago, but it is still possible if you have an overactive thyroid. Your doctor will have to run a few tests to measure the amount of thyroid hormones. Additionally, you may undergo diagnostic imagery or a biopsy of the swelling. The treatment will be dependent on the results of the testing.
If it is goiter, you may need surgery or be prescribed radioactive iodine.
