“Eco Car Trend: All-New 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco”

There’s a new eco baby in town! Say hello to the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco!

The 2013 Malibu Eco is Chevrolet’s most fuel-efficient Malibu ever, delivering an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in city driving and 37 mpg on the highway. Perfect for a long road trip or adventure with your family!

The Eco is the first model of the all-new Malibu lineup to launch in the United States. It went on sale earlier this year and starts at $25,995, less than competitor full-hybrid vehicles making it a great value for families. The Eco is also the first and only all-new 2013 midsize car to receive double honors for safety including a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a 2012 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

What’s even cooler, is the team of unique women who created the all-new Malibu! They’re the engineers who have come to be known as the “Malibu Moms.” The team consists of a crash expert, an organic gardener with specially trained hearing skills, a blue-haired, roller derby jammer, and a Harvard master’s candidate with a patent in lighting technology. And while they all seem like vastly different personalities with equally diverse areas of expertise, these four engineers all share the common bond of motherhood that has earned them their nickname.  Their unique insights as moms have helped drive the rationale behind the engineering of key components on the 2013 Malibu: safety, quietness, fuel economy and overall customer experience.

The exterior of the Eco – and all Malibu models – has a coupe-like silhouette and carries design DNA from Camaro to bring a sporty sensibility to the family sedan segment.

A wide stance, broad shoulders, a powerdome hood and an integrated rear spoiler bring a new athleticism to Malibu and give it a more aggressive, planted and sporty appearance. The new Malibu has a 4.5-inch (114 mm) shorter wheelbase and 62-inch (1,574 mm) front and rear tracks that are more than 2 inches (51 mm) wider than the model it replaces.

The Malibu Eco features an all-new interior that is roomier, more comfortable and premium, and quieter than the previous generation Malibu. It features an all-new dual cockpit design that is three inches wider than the previous Malibu.

The Malibu Eco’s interior features metallic, chrome or wood accents located around the shifter, surrounding the center stack, around the instrument cluster and on doors and the steering wheel. Soft, ice blue ambient lighting reflects off of and complements chrome accents and ensures even, consistent illumination along the instrument panel. Ice blue lighting on the center stack dials, exposed ice blue French contrast stitching, soft-touch and textured surfaces, and strategic applications of noise-deadening materials add to Malibu’s interior refinement. Seats are sport-sculpted and bolstered with firmer foam and frames made of high-strength steel for long-distance comfort and durability.

Loved this net in the cargo area. Great for groceries, books, things you don’t want flying all around your trunk.

Here are some of the Malibu’s great features:

– First Chevrolet with fuel-saving eAssist™ technology, enabling GM-estimated fuel economy of 25 city / 37 highway – for the most fuel-efficient Malibu ever.

– Quietest Chevrolet in history, thanks to sound-reducing and sound-absorbing components and aero-optimized exterior.

– All-new exterior designed to stand out around the world, matched with all-new, dual-cockpit interior that has more room, comfort and premium materials.

– All-new Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system enhances customer connectivity like never before.

– All-new ride-and-handling package rivaling high-end sedans and engineered for top safety results around the world.

We loved driving this car and felt like we were rolling in style. A few of us moms took it on a road trip and had a blast. Thanks Chevy for the opportunity.
