“Patriotic Coolers with Red, White and Blue Ice Cubes”

Perfect for Memorial Day or Fourth of July… here is a refreshing idea to serve alongside the salad. This refreshing drink is non-alcoholic and the ice cubes will keep the kiddos occupied for a bit. They might actually enjoy making these ice cubes with you. Give it a try.

The trick to the ice cubes is freezing them in parts. Directions are listed below. Have fun!

Patriotic Coolers with Red, White and Blue Ice Cubes

What You’ll Need:

Ingredients for Ice Cubes

1 ice cube tray
1 cup fresh blueberries, rinsed
1/3 cup Ocean Spray® Blueberry Juice Cocktail
1/2 cup Ocean Spray® White Cranberry Juice Drink
1/2 cup Ocean Spray® Cranberry Juice Cocktail

Ingredients for Coolers

2 cups Ocean Spray® White Cranberry Juice Drink
2 12 ounce cans lemon-lime flavored soda, chilled (sparkling water would work good too)

Directions:

Place 4 blueberries in each of 16 ice cube cups. Add about 1 teaspoon blueberry flavored juice. Freeze at least 1 hour or until solid. Add 1/2 tablespoon white cranberry drink to each cup. Freeze 1 hour or until solid. Top with 1/2 tablespoon cranberry beverage. Freeze at least 1 hour or until solid.

In each of 4 tall glasses, pour 1/2 cup white cranberry juice drink and 3/4 cup soda. Add ice cubes to each glass.

Makes 4 servings | Recipe Source.

Here are some other ideas for this menu:
– Instead of blueberries, use cranberries or cran-raisens.
– Instead of soda, you can use sparkling water, infused with lemon or lime (or both!).
– make a pitcher of 2 parts sparkling water, 1 part cranberry juice and then add the patriotic ice cubes. Perfect, refreshing drink for guests.

Do you have any favorite Independence Day meals that you serve? BBQ, maybe?
